English, Mathematics & Science

English, Mathematics & Science form the core subjects for the British national curriculum.

Maths

We are proud to offer a mathematics curriculum that is not only innovative but also aligned with White Rose Maths. Our teachers have been trained to use the most effective elements of White Rose Maths teaching approach which focuses on problem solving and conceptual understanding. This approach encourages students to think critically and apply their mathematical knowledge to real-life scenarios. Our curriculum covers a wide range of mathematical concepts and skills, including number, algebra, geometry, measurement, and statistics. We use hands-on activities, and technology integration to make learning fun, engaging and discovery based.

With our emphasis on problem solving and conceptual understanding, every student will have the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of mathematics and a love for the subject. By focusing on real-life math, we aim to equip our pupils with the confidence and skills to use math in their future studies and careers.

Join our school and experience mathematics in an entirely new way.

Science

At Victory Heights Primary School, we believe that science inspires curiosity, creativity and a lifelong love of learning. Our science curriculum is designed to develop confident, inquisitive learners who ask questions, think critically and seek to understand the world around them.

Through a carefully sequenced curriculum, pupils build secure knowledge in biology, chemistry, physics and earth science while developing the skills required to work and think as scientists. Learning is enriched through practical investigations, enquiry-based learning and real-world applications that encourage pupils to observe, question, predict, test and evaluate.

Science is further enhanced through our SPARK/STEAM programme, which provides meaningful opportunities for pupils to apply their scientific understanding through interdisciplinary projects that connect science with technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics. These experiences encourage creativity, collaboration, innovation and problem-solving while helping pupils recognise the relevance of science in everyday life.

Our curriculum is ambitious, engaging and inclusive, ensuring that all pupils develop both substantive scientific knowledge and disciplinary skills. Pupils learn to communicate their ideas effectively, analyse evidence, interpret data and draw conclusions based on scientific reasoning. Through a strong emphasis on scientific enquiry, pupils are encouraged to think independently, make informed decisions and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Victory Heights Primary School is proud to hold the Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM) Gilt Award, recognising the high quality of our science curriculum, leadership, teaching and learning. This prestigious accreditation reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and our dedication to providing exceptional science education for all pupils.

Our commitment to excellence is reflected in the rich learning experiences provided both inside and outside the classroom. Through practical investigations, STEAM projects, educational visits, enrichment opportunities and whole-school science events, pupils are encouraged to apply their scientific understanding in creative and meaningful contexts. These experiences develop curiosity, innovation, collaboration and critical thinking while helping pupils make connections across disciplines and real-world situations.

At Victory Heights Primary School, we aim to nurture curious minds, inspire discovery and equip pupils with the knowledge, skills and confidence to become the scientists, innovators and problem-solvers of the future.

English

Welcome to our English curriculum!

At Victory Heights Primary School, we believe that the study of English is essential for the development of strong communication skills and the ability to think critically. Our English curriculum is designed to challenge students to become active readers, effective writers, and confident speakers. We offer a wide range of literature, explore various fictional and non fictional stories and expose students to different cultures and perspectives. Through creative teaching methods and a modern spin on the curriculum, pupils actively take part in research, drama, poetry, creative writing and role play which helps prepare our students to be more confident and effective lifelong learners. Through rich development of these skills, from the earliest stages, we invest in children’s confidence, their love of reading and creativity to nurture excellence in English.

From FS1 to Y6 our learning is based around focus texts which capture the interest of our children, develop their general knowledge and provide them with the rich vocabulary needed to become enthused writers. We heavily invest in deliberate vocabulary development to ensure our students are able to engage in lively debate and provide well reasoned arguments. We encourage a love of learning through imaginative off-road weeks which are designed to inspire magic, wonder and awe for all ages. Our teachers are passionate about English and share their own reading habits with our children. Reading for pleasure is encouraged and incentivised through our school Reading Passport scheme which helps develop the range of books our children read both within and out with school.

As active participants in the Dubai Oracy Hub we encourage our children to share their thoughts, opinions and ideas with others across the region. Hosting and attending a range of events designed to challenge and engage learners in the spoken word.

We truly believe that ‘it starts with the little ones’ and that every student has the right to learn to read and spell with confidence and joy. That's why our phonics curriculum is designed to be both comprehensive and innovative. Our teachers are trained to use the latest research-based methods to teach students the skills they need to become exceptional readers and spellers. With our innovative and custom made approach to phonics instruction, every student will have the opportunity to succeed in reading and spelling.

Join our school to be a part of an English program that is both challenging and inspiring.
