Specialist Subjects

From coding to Spanish, swimming to spark labs — we bring learning to life beyond the classroom.

Specialist subjects add richness, breadth, and inspiration to our curriculum. At VHPS, children benefit from expert teaching in:

  • Arabic and Islamic Studies (compulsory as per KHDA guidelines)
  • Spanish (KS2)
  • PE and Swimming
  • Music, Art, and Drama
  • Computing and STEAM/SPARK

At Victory Heights Primary School, STEAM provides pupils with meaningful opportunities to apply their learning through innovative, hands-on experiences that foster creativity, curiosity and problem-solving. Rooted in our F.U.N. philosophy—helping children to Flourish, Unleash their creativity and Navigate challenges—our STEAM curriculum encourages pupils to think critically, collaborate effectively and develop the confidence to explore new ideas.

Through a rich range of experiences, including design projects, cooking, sewing, robotics, coding, animation and 3D printing, pupils engage in the design process by exploring, creating, testing, evaluating and refining their ideas. These experiences enable pupils to make meaningful connections across science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics while applying their learning in authentic and engaging contexts.

Our dedicated STEAM Labs provide specialist learning environments where pupils are encouraged to innovate, experiment and solve real-world problems. Through open-ended challenges and project-based learning, pupils are supported to think creatively, take risks and learn from mistakes in a safe and supportive environment.

At Victory Heights Primary School, we view STEAM as more than a curriculum subject; it is a vehicle for developing the knowledge, skills and attributes needed for future success. Through STEAM, pupils develop resilience, communication, collaboration, time-management and critical-thinking skills, preparing them to become confident, adaptable and innovative learners in an ever-changing world.

Similarly, our music programme helps children explore rhythm, voice, and instruments, while our PE curriculum focuses on fitness, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles.

These subjects don’t just enrich learning — they help children discover passions, develop new skills, and grow in confidence.
