Welcome to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Victory Heights Primary School, a leading British curriculum primary school in Dubai Sports City, where every child is valued, every achievement is celebrated and manners matter.
Our Foundation Stage, for children in FS1 and FS2, is purposefully located on its own dedicated campus, creating a welcoming and nurturing Early Years environment where our youngest learners can grow in confidence, independence and curiosity.
We follow the principles of the British Early Years Foundation Stage, with children working towards the Early Learning Goals at the end of FS2. This includes achieving a Good Level of Development across the prime areas of learning, literacy and mathematics.
From entry into FS1, our carefully designed hybrid curriculum draws on Birth to 5 Matters and Development Matters. We place a strong emphasis on the prime areas of development: communication and language, physical development, and personal, social and emotional development. These provide the foundations for learning, helping children develop the confidence, skills and understanding they need to thrive across all areas of the curriculum.
We believe that early childhood is a time to build confidence, independence, kindness and a lifelong love of learning. We nurture the whole child, celebrating individuality and encouraging children to become curious, capable and considerate learners.
Our partnership with parents is central to this. We offer support, guidance and open communication, working together to promote each child’s well-being, development and progress. We are an inclusive school, committed to ensuring that every child receives the care, encouragement and additional support they need to flourish.
Our Early Years environments are warm, inviting and thoughtfully designed to inspire awe and wonder. Our EYFS resources include a range of natural materials and focus on language development. Through purposeful play, children engage in meaningful real-life experiences and role play activities, questioned by adults to expand language and imagination skills and teach knowledge based learning with an integration of memory activities. Children learn independently, with partners and small groups learning and exploring key personal social and emotional milestones.
Technology is not a priority. We believe that hands on exploration and communication skills are essential to early childhood development.
Our teachers are at the heart of the Foundation Stage. They know their children well and carefully plan experiences, activities and learning environments to meet individual needs and interests. Through ongoing observation and assessment, they identify next steps, respond to emerging interests and ensure that every child is supported to make progress.
